Getting wreathy

So last week, I posted about all the adorbs spring wreaths I'd noticed around the blogosphere. Well, guess what? I made one!

It was hard picking which tutorial to try, but in the end, one stood out for a few reasons. It looked like very do-able. Not too complicated, not too time-consuming. I wouldn't need many materials. AND it would force me to go to vintage and thrift stores, which is always fun.

Can you guess?

Yes, I made the Vintage Sheet Wrapped Wreath from In Color Order!

So, here's a reminder of her beauty:

And so I went on a hunt for vintage sheets. Apparently vintage sheets are not as easy to find as I assumed! The vintage store in town didn't carry any. And the semi-vintagey store in town didn't either. Luckily, that store is right next to Salvation Army. So I popped in there. And found, for $3, still in its package from Sears and Robucks, this sheet:

Is that not perfect??

A quick trip to Jo-Ann's for a 12-inch wreath and a glue gun, and I was ready. I have to say, I wish I'd purchased a bigger wreath. Although actually, I don't think they had any. Do they not make wreath forms bigger than 12 inches? I don't know, it was my first wreath shopping excursion!

That night, I cut my strips of fabric. I didn't take the time to stitch anything together -- I just used one-inch strips. I think the results are fine, but if a little fraying bothers you, you'd want to make sure you cut a 2-inch strip, iron in half and then sew together down the long side. That side could then be hidden when you over-lap your fabric around the wreath.

OK, enough rambling, here's my wreath!

I made the flowers using the tutorial here. Very easy! I might start putting rosettes on everything. I think my door looks cute. I'd like to maybe add something else to the wreath though. Maybe another flower? A little sign in the middle? Or maybe a peep or something? If you have a suggestion, please, let me hear it!

  10. I love this wreath! Fellow Michigander here! Thank for stopping by A Woman's Haven Crafternoon post. You asked a couple questions regarding hosting a crafternoon and to answer them: I usually have a lot of craft supplies that I share and I also have the participants bring some of the major items so that it doesn't cost me too much $.
