First off, it's Sew Mama Sew giveaway day! It's an event where tons of different sewing blogs host giveaways of handmade items and supplies. Go explore, find new blogs and enter to win prizes. I will be!
Now, I need your help.
I am trying like hell to get my Oliver + S puppet theatre done in time for Christmas. I've been slowed once again! This time because my machine is acting super weird. I'm applying the ribbon frames around the windows. It's such a darling effect. But it's driving me mad. My thread unthreads itself on basically each and every pass through a ribbon. It is slowing me down so much, and I can't figure out what's going on. Something with the tension? Wrong needle? Why would the thread unthread itself from the needle? How is that possible??
Please help! I have two windows left to finish, and I'd love to solve this problem and fly through them. Any ideas what might be wrong?
Are you sure your bobbin is threaded correctly? Maybe try a new needle? You didn't put in a different needle and get it in backwards or something? Lint built up somewhere?
ReplyDeleteJust guessing. Those are things I would check.
I'm so curious about this. Does it work on other fabrics and unthread ONLY on the ribbon?
ReplyDeleteI did a Google search and found some helpful advice here:

Hope you find a solution! I know it's especially frustrating when you're pressed for time!
First thing to check-what kind of ribbon is it? Use needle recommended for that fabric. Then I would change out thread completely-use a different spool, rewind a new bobbin & while you have everything apart, clean your machine. Pain in the behind when you are in a hurry, but usually it is something obvious. If none of the above works, then I would start by very, very slightly adjusting tension. Hope this helps.
