Easy doily pillow

I'm on a pillow kick. I think I have at least one more pillow coming in August. Pillow are so fast and versatile. And the possibilities are endless. And they're so much cheaper to make than to buy! Oh, and if you're new to sewing, they are easy easy easy. What are you waiting for? Make a pillow!

I did.

Twenty minutes well-spent on Sunday afternoon resulted in this cute pillow. It features another doily made by my great-grandmother or her sister. I love incorporating these into my house.

This was very easy. I just carefully pinned the doily in place on the bright blue cotton fabric. And then stitched around the outside ring of the doily -- not all the way around the scalloped edges, but just inside them. Does that make sense? That left the edges free to curl up. I think that's kind of cute.

Someone really wanted to be in these photos. Guess who?

The back is just a piece of scrap fabric I had laying around.

The inspiration for this came from Pinterest, but I apparently didn't pin the original. Nor can I find it now. Oh well, thank you Pinterest for your endless inspiration!

  1. This is really pretty, and I love that you left the little scallop edges to curl up. The doily really pops against that shade of blue.
